Cute Points

Here's one for the grandmas.

Last night we attended a Halloween party. Jack arrived in his dragon costume, ate a cookie and then strutted his stuff on the dance floor.

I think the band was much appreciative of this party goer getting the ball rolling. They asked his name and got a kick out of watching him.

We ate dinner, followed by another cookie, more dancing, and a tractor ride.

The costume was long gone at this point, when one dances as much as Jack, he was ready to strip down to his diaper. Later in the evening, they announced that they were judging a costume contest, it was like a mad rush to the stage so you could get noticed. Jack, on the other hand, headed straight for the cookies. Well much to our surprise when they announced the name for the best boy costume, they asked "Jack the dinosaur" to come onstage. So Chris takes Jack up, partially dressed in costume and there he received a Halloween Mr. Potato Head.

I didn't even get a full picture of him in his costume (just lots of him eating cookies).

At Morgan's gym, they encourage the girls to smile during their routine jokingly telling them it earns them cute points. I would definitely say that last night Jack tallied up some cute points :). I mean really how does a partially clothed dragon mistaken for a dinosaur win a costume contest?

Come on over to the dark side...

Photobucket
Okay, you know when a product comes to Costco, it pretty much has a seal of approval from all who have tasted. The problem, when Nutella comes to Costco, it also comes in a ginormous container-way too dangerous to have on hand.
We've had it on bread, graham crackers, toast and sadly, right off the knife.
But here's today's creation...the mother of all Nutella creations, straight out of the oven.

Directions:
  1. Unroll one can of crescent rolls and separate.
  2. Place on a cookie sheet and spread with Nutella.
  3. (optional) add sliced banana
  4. Roll
  5. Place in preheated oven at 375 degrees and cook for 11-13 minutes.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar
Come on, just try, it's nice over here on the dark side.Photobucket (albeit a little messy!)

Family Fun?

For 10 years now, we've been going to Joan's Farm. We love this pumpkin patch, it's on a working farm and loaded with things to do. It's also located out past the local wineries, so it's a beautiful drive and a beautiful setting. Those things combined, have always produced some of my favorite photos each year.
This year throw in one extremely cranky boy who had virtually no interest in the pumpkins which meant virtually no opportunites for a cute picture and here's what I got:

(Please note, I totally resisted my urge to force these two to where autumnal colors-it makes for much easier paper choices when I scrapbook, but I relinquish complete control for a couple good smiles.)

Gimme credit for trying, it's tough work being the family's official historian.

Jeffrey

Many moons ago when I was a teenager I saw a Bill Cosby comedy routine and I vividly remember a segment about a boy named Jeffrey. I don't think I can justly describe this bit and thanks to youtube, I found it for your enjoyment.

Flash forward to Thursday, a mom and 3 kids board a Jet Blue flight. With the flight being only an hour long and the just turned two year old veteran flyer having his own seat for the first time, this mom felt confident this flight would be a breeze. And for the first forty minutes with a bag of tricks and help from the older sister, it was manageable. And then the pilot said to buckle up, the descent would begin. And with those words, I think their descent into hell began. This boy decided he wanted nothing to do with the buckle and no cajoling, bribery, song and dance could turn his attention away from this buckle. His protests came in the form of loud cries, flailing, screaming, etc... Twenty minutes may not seem like a long time, but ask any passenger around them, it was an eternity. Once landed, it was decided by the mom to send the older son off the plane and wait for the stroller as she could not face the glares of fellow passengers. At this point the boy happily discovered the window to the relief of his mom.

Then again, maybe not.
With this latest incident, the mother grabbed the child and decided to leave the plane. In response, he arched his back and threw himself against the back of the seat, hitting his head and beginning yet another round of crying. As the mom reached down to scoop up his head, the entire contents of a Goldfish bag dumped to the ground. With that, the poor mom picked up what was left of her dignity and told the flight crew they'd be back on Sunday and perhaps they might want to work on switching their shifts.

Now I'm keeping this post anonymous so the guilty parties will not be pursued by Jet Blue, but I think we all know who we are talking about, right?

October 12

Not my best attempt at 12 on the 12th...I've got 2 busy kids who weren't home a whole lot yesterday, a missing husband, so it was just me and the little man most of the day. Anyhow...you can't plan the 12th, it's just a slice of life.

1. First mess of the day...took out tons of wipes.
2. Dora-totally obsessed right now.
3. Trips in the car today-5
4. Bed head!
5. This kid can't get enough to eat.
6. Off to soccer practice.
7. Morgan's snack before practice.
8. Burning off some energy.
9. She doesn't know how to be still.
10. Monkey see, monkey do.
11. playin'
12. Leaving tennis class. I'm terrible, but I do have fun

Page Maps Sketch

This month I decided to enter the Page Maps contest sponsored by Express the Moment. I use Page Maps often for inspiration, but have never been organized or confident enough to enter their contests.

Here's my interpretation of the sketch. I've peeked over on their blog and have seen many of the other fabulous entries and feel like mine is pretty simplistic, but I think it reflects my style and I really like this color combination so I'm pleased.

The journaling reads This makes it okay for you to get bigger. This is a moment I'll always remember. This is one of the best things about being your mom. September 4, 2009 Approaching your second birthday. This is about the time that it was all about mommy. I love being the center of your universe and hope you know I love you to pieces.
