Well today it was face the pile of laundry or upload some pictures and sort through them. The laundry is still waiting, but got this done instead :-). Unfortunately I lose quite a bit of quality when I do these slideshows, but I think you'll still be able to appreciate how truly beautiful Kauai is.

Best Toys Money Could Buy
Meet Sally and McQueen , cars from the Disney movie Cars. I think my
$8 investment in these cars was about the best purchase I made.
We're at the airport now and he's playing with them & hoping we can
get another 5 hours of entertainment out of them. Sad to head home.
We've had a great trip.

Morgan's Pick
Okay now that I got the hang of posting from my iphone (and
remembering to take a picture) here's Mo riding Showbiz near
Maha'ulepu coastline. Today was just the two of us, Tomorrow the boys (minus Jack)
are playing at Poipu Bay. Anyway saw several movie locations on our
ride...more gorgeous scenery.

Aloha
Hurricane Jack has been downgraded to a tropical storm. Sleeping pretty good and really hanging in there being on the go so much. Today he seemed to hit a wall, but going a good nights rest and some pooltime might help. This is the view from our balcony. Yes, we're in paradise.

Hurricane Jack
I would imagine somebody who was going on a vacation and turned on the weather channel only to hear that a hurricane is headed to their destination would have a sick feeling in their stomach right about now. Well I'm having that same feeling about a little hurricane we're calling Jack. A couple weeks ago Jack had a high fever for 4 days and it included waking up in the middle of the night and staying up for hours as we tried to get the fever to break. Well the fever went away, but the waking several times remained. At first we weren't too concerned, he's been a great sleeper and we had a couple weeks before our trip. Well a week passed and not much progress was being made, parents were growing weary and the trip that we envisioned to be relaxing was beginning to feel less so. We limited naptime during the day, filled the day with activity, made sure he was well fed, did the whole bedtime routine, and of course crying it out. There are still bags under my eyes. Last night Jack went to bed at 7:30, began crying at 10:00 and cried until 11:00, woke at 4:30 cried to 5 something (time is a bit blurry when you are this deprived). Now add on a 3 hour time difference and the first 3 nights in one hotel room and maybe you can see why I'm beginning to dread going.
Let's hope the tropical tradewinds and sounds of the ocean are the solution we've been searching for.

It's the 12th again...oops!
Well it was about noon today before I realized it was the 12th. Luckily I had my little camera with me so I was able to catch up.
1. Morgan with her friend Caitlyn. Since kindergarten they've always been the same height...apparently not anymore.
2. Garrett and his new push cart. Played 18 holes today.
3. Morgan picking berries. She loved the idea, but hated the thorns. She assumed the role of pointing them out.
4. Jack at Gymboree.
5. Morgan and Chris at Gymboree. For the first 15 minutes we had the place to ourselves.
6. More golf...
7. A rare moment of Jack sitting still.
8. My last weight watchers weigh in before vacation. I wanted to lose 8 pounds and I lost.....drumroll...8.6!
9. I was surprised how into the berry picking Garrett was.
10. These were some bushes at the golf course filled with blackberries. The best ones were on top, totally unreachable, but we got plenty of juicy ones.
11. Chris and I went out for a belated celebration of our 18th anniversary.
12. Over dinner we made a list of things we wanted to do.

Anticlimatic
I've been dreading Jack's first haircut. If you can recall, Jack had hardly any hair on his first birthday and there certainly wasn't a curl to it. And as it grew and a few hairs began to curl, it was such as surprise as he follows two very straight haired siblings. The longer it grew, the curlier it got (especially in the back). And the curlier it got, the more comments we would receive. At first it was the acknowledgment of the curls and then came the warning about the dreaded first haircut and how that would certainly be the end of the curls. Well lately the comments have come in the form of referring to Jack as a "she".
So today was the big day. We went to a wonderful little shop geared toward children and Jack hopped right into the car. Kim, the hairdresser, also put a video in and Jack didn't make a peep. In fact, the worst part of the experience was getting him out of the car. As for the haircut, take a look at the pictures. The curls are still there and I'm hopeful that we won't be calling him "Jackie" any time soon.

Faves From the Fourth
Just sharing a few photos from yesterday. Jack is feeling much better, but ended up taking 2 long naps so our day was pretty quiet. We bar-b-qued and then headed to a fireworks show. The glow in the dark necklace kept Jack pretty busy until the show started at 9:30 and then he really enjoyed the display. He called them "boom booms".
